MONTGOMERY – Governor Robert
Bentley on Monday amended evacuation orders covering
portions of Baldwin and Mobile
Counties based on updated
forecast models for Tropical Storm Isaac.
In Baldwin County,
the Zone 1 evacuation order remains mandatory. The mandatory evacuation
order for Zone 2 is now modified to include only low-lying, flood-prone areas
or mobile/manufactured houses determined by local officials to be vulnerable to
Isaac.
In Mobile
County, the mandatory evacuation order
for Zone 1 remains in effect for Dauphin
Island and in other
low-lying, flood-prone areas or mobile/manufactured houses determined by local
officials to be vulnerable to Isaac.
The mandatory evacuation order for
Zone 2 in Mobile County is now modified to include only low-lying,
flood-prone areas or mobile/manufactured houses determined by local officials
to be vulnerable to Isaac.
“It is important that we
give local authorities flexibility to oversee evacuations as the forecast for
Isaac continues to be updated,” Governor Bentley said. “Our number-one
priority is protecting lives. I am giving local officials in Mobile and Baldwin
Counties more flexibility
to enforce evacuations in order to help make sure people are safe.”
