Dave Stewart is Chief of Staff to Governor Bob Riley. Prior to being named Chief
of Staff, Stewart served as Senior Advisor to the Governor where he was responsible
for the development and implementation of the governor’s policy initiatives as well
as legislative affairs. He joined the Riley Administration as Policy Director in
2003.
Before joining
Governor Riley’s
administration, Stewart served as Senior Advisor
to newly
elected Republican Congressman Jo Bonner (AL-1). In that capacity, he was
actively engaged in all aspects of campaign management including policy, fundraising,
and general strategy.
Prior to returning to politics to assist Bonner in his bid for Congress, Stewart
worked as Director of Business Development for an e-commerce company in Atlanta,
Georgia, where he was responsible for business development strategy and implementation.
Stewart moved to Atlanta from Denver, Colorado where he helped launch an Internet
start-up targeting the building materials industry. He has also lived in Houston,
Texas where he worked for Wells Fargo’s Energy Banking Group.
Before obtaining a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama,
Stewart worked in Washington, DC as a Legislative Assistant to Republican Congressman
Terry Everett (AL-2). In that position, Stewart advised the Congressman on numerous
legislative issues.
Dave Stewart was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama where he attended St. Paul’s
Episcopal School and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Alabama in 1995 as well as a Master
of Business Administration in 1999.
